Part treasure hunt, part ‘Amazing Race’, part puzzle – the Melbourne City Romp is a charity fundraising event like no other!
Armed with a map, clue sheet and mobile phone, teams of 2-6 Rompers attempt to solve challenges at Checkpoints located at iconic venues and quirky locations across Melbourne. Teams face a range of challenges involving trivia, history, mathematics, geography, observation and physical endeavours. Teamwork is the key to success on Romp Day!
Burnet’s flagship fundraising event is accessible for all – no matter what your age, gender or fitness level. Enter a team in one of the four categories; family and friends, schools, universities or corporates - and share a great day out, discovering aspects of Melbourne you never knew existed.
More than 12,000 Rompers from all over Australia took part in the 2010 event, featuring 2,400 teams.
Rompers were encouraged to raise funds for Burnet Institute’s Romp for a Cure initiative. All fundraising assists Burnet in its fight against The ‘Big Three’: HIV, TB and malaria, some of the world’s worst infectious diseases which cause the death of seven million people each year. Anyone and everyone was able to participate. Rompers chose one of four catergories to take part in – Family & Friends, Schools, Universities or Corporate.
