Dollars raised so far by Rompers for Burnet:
We are encouraging everyone to get behind the Burnet Institute’s major fundraising initiative by actively fundraising for Romp for a Cure - our fight against The ‘Big Three’: HIV, TB and malaria.
Last year, almost seven million people, mostly children, died from The ‘Big Three’ which is why the Burnet Institute has taken up the challenge to find vaccines and new drugs to help improve the health of poor communities around the world.
The ‘Big Three’ are preventable diseases and yet every 30 seconds a child dies from malaria, every second someone new is infected with TB and more than two million people die each year from AIDS.
Out of sight, out of mind….in our busy lives here in Australia it’s sometimes hard to put a personal face to the suffering endured overseas by disadvantaged and marginalised communities affected by these infectious diseases.
At Burnet, everything we do is focused on making a sustainable difference to people’s health in Australia, and in 15 countries across Asia, Africa and the Pacific where we work directly with local communities.
