Live outside of Melbourne but want to Romp?

Fear not, we’ve got it covered!

Leave the car at home and use Melbourne’s cheap and efficient public transport network.  

• Plan ahead and visit metlinkmelbourne.com.au before the day, enter your details into Metlink’s online journey planner to receive a personalised trip plan from your door to the Romp Start/Finish (and home again). Or ring Metlink on 131 638 for advice.  
• For timetable and route information about the metropolitan train network operated by Metro visit www.metrotrains.com.au
• Yarra Trams operate an extensive service throughout Melbourne. Check out their ‘Visiting Melbourne’s Attractions by Tram’ section at www.yarratrams.com.au to help you plan your route on Romp Day.

Remember to travel with a valid ticket on public transport. At only $3.10, the Sunday Saver Metcard is your best ticket option for unlimited travel on trains, trams and buses all day across Zones 1 and 2 on Romp Day. Don’t forget to validate your Sunday Saver Metcard each time you catch a tram, bus or train.

Regional Victoria

V/Line offers some great deals to get into the city. So leave the car behind and check out the best options at vline.com.au. Or for timetable information, reservations and sales, call V/Line on 136 196 (6am-10pm, 7 days)

Interstate

With four different airlines to choose from (Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin Blue and Tiger Airways), it’s often possible to secure a one-way ticket from Brisbane to Melbourne for around $100. So there’s no excuse not to sign up for the 2010 Melbourne City Romp and make a weekend of it!  We’d recommend taking a long weekend and staying at least a couple of nights so that you can enjoy all the wonderful attractions of Marvellous Melbourne.

Upon arrival at Melbourne airport, simply hop on board a SkyBus into Southern Cross Train Station for only $13 one way for an adult, $5 for children or $26 for a family (2009 prices).

SkyBus operates from the airport to Melbourne CBD and city hotels 24 hours, 7 days a week with buses leaving every 15 minutes throughout the day and every 30-60 minutes overnight.
